PCSO Vehicular Crimes Unit Investigates Single Vehicle Rollover Accident

On Sunday, May 18th, 2014 at 5:42 a.m. a driver reported seeing the aftermath of a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred on Trekell Road just north of Provo Road, outside of the city of Casa Grande.

Deputies arrived at the accident a short time later and the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Michael Peters (age 21 of Casa Grande) was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Vehicular Crimes Unit responded and took over the investigation. It was determined the crash occurred between the late evening hours of May 17th and the early morning hours of May 18th. Peters had been driving his 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck southbound on Trekell Road. For unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted to the right, traveling off the main portion of the roadway and into soft dirt.

Peters over corrected his vehicle back onto the roadway where he lost control. His vehicle left the roadway, and traveled down into a ditch. The vehicle after hitting the ditch then rolled over onto its roof.

Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Michael Peters was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was killed instantly as he was partially ejected from the vehicle. Sadly, the Peters family is left to mourn the loss of their son. Seatbelts save lives and should be worn for every trip as the life it saves maybe your own.”

The medical examiners investigation will determine if alcohol was a factor in this accident.
