Pinal County will be celebrating National Trails Day on Saturday, April 4th at Picacho Peak State Park. This is the third year that Pinal County has organized an event to celebrate National Trails Day and this year we are partnering with Picacho Peak State Park. National Trails Day, for most of the Country, is celebrated on the first Saturday in June. We celebrate National Trails Day earlier in the year to enjoy our beautiful Spring hiking weather. There is no charge for participation in the event, although there is an entrance fee for access into Picacho Peak State Park. Several Pinal County departments are partnering to offer this event: Planning and Development, Pinal County Public Health District, Pinal County Employees Wellness Coalition, and Parks, Recreation and Fairgrounds. The objectives for promoting this event are:
- Health benefits-Hiking and other trail use activities offer numerous health benefits.
- Trail awareness-Pinal County is home to many trail opportunities. Events such as this one highlight the recreational opportunities in Pinal County.
- Partnership opportunities-Not only are several Pinal County departments partnering to offer this event; National Trails Day events offer Pinal County the opportunity to partner with other land managing agencies within Pinal County.
