The Pinal County Regional D.U.I. Task Force is comprised of agencies throughout Pinal County. Agencies participating in the Pinal County DUI Task Force include the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Casa Grande Police Department, Gila River Police Department, Apache Junction Police Department, Coolidge Police Department, Florence Police Department, Eloy Police Department, Superior Police Department, Ak-Chin Police Department and the Maricopa Police Department.
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Pinal County Regional D.U.I. Task Force and agencies throughout the State are fully committed to making the streets of our communities safer through aggressive impaired driving enforcement and continued education, as impaired driving is one of America’s and Arizona’s deadliest crimes.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2007 there were 1066 fatalities in Arizona and 336 of these involved drivers impaired by alcohol. NHSTA also reports that as a motorist, there is a 30% chance that you will be involved in an alcohol-related collision in your lifetime. Sheriff Babeu has committed to working toward impacting these statistics through the development of this task force.
“Statistics show that on average, nationwide, someone is killed every 40 minutes by a drunk driver. As your Sheriff I am committed to providing the residents of Pinal County high-visibility, zero tolerance traffic enforcement during high-risk holidays. High visibility, zero tolerance enforcement is at the foundation of any successful effort to reduce drunk driving and one of the ways we will ensure those traveling the roads of Pinal County are safer”, Sheriff Babeu said.
