Florence, Ariz. – Today at approximately 1205 hours the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Apache Junction Police Department and requested to respond to the area of Old West Highway and Idaho Rd in Apache Junction reference a two vehicle accident with injuries involving Vice Mayor R.E. Eck.
The accident was the apparent result of an earlier incident of “road rage” between Vice Mayor Eck and the driver of a motorcycle that Vice Mayor Eck’s vehicle struck from behind.
The investigation is still on going but it appears Vice Mayor Eck’s vehicle struck the rear of a motorcycle causing the passenger on the motorcycle to be knocked off onto the roadway. Following the collision the driver of the motorcycle apparently assaulted Vice Mayor Eck.
Both the motorcycle passenger and Vice Mayor Eck were air lifted to a valley hospital. Their current condition is unknown at this time.
No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued as of the time of this release, the investigation is on-going.
