News: Sheriff Paul Babeu takes a Dip in Cold Water to Support His Staff

Florence, Ariz. – Earlier this month, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu participated in a dunk tank fundraiser for the Sheriff's Office Benevolent Fund. Sheriff Babeu has been working with the Pinal County Justice Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization to open a line item for the fund. This fund will support events that will enable our employees and families to get together and participate in events that are geared toward improving morale, providing recreation and thus ensuring the well being of our employees and their families. Monies raised thru fundraisers and donations will support events such as; movie nights for employees and their families, employee-family picnic’s, family night at the ballpark and many other events that will cost the employee and their families nothing to attend.

“Law enforcement can be all-consuming and because of this, families are left to put up with long hours, missed birthdays, missed holidays and missed school events and they get little to nothing in exchange. The men and women of Pinal County Sheriff’s Office are dedicated and this fund will allow us to thank them for the work they do and to thank their families for the sacrifices they make so each of us can sleep safely in the comfort of our homes”, said Sheriff Paul Babeu. “We all too often forget the sacrifices made by those who choose to serve and their families. This is one small way we can say thank you to them and show them each how much their sacrifices mean to our communities.”

James Kimble, Chief Deputy of the PCSO Adult Detention Center, Jail Commanders Jayme Valenzuela, Terry Johnson and Joe McAuliffe, PCSO Executive Officer Lt. Blake King, and PCSO Community Relations Director Cheryl Chase also took a seat in the dunk tank, which was part of the week-long Adult Detention Center Appreciation Week for jail employees. More than $500 was raised for the benevolent fund.

All donations received will be deposited into a line item in the Pinal County Justice Foundation and must be authorized by their board prior to being released. The Pinal County Justice Foundation is a volunteer organization dedicated to raise and disburse funds for programs that assist Pinal County law enforcement.

Pinal County Justice Foundation is a registered non-profit 501(c) 3 organization and is funded solely by donations from our citizens, corporations and by grants. The goal of the Pinal County Justice Foundation is to link citizens and businesses with law enforcement to promote crime prevention, education, safety and support for our peace officers, their agencies, victims and survivors.
