In December 1993, Lt. Hunt responded to a narcotics call at a residence in Apache Junction. As he and two other officers entered the residence, the suspect shot at all three. Two of the officers suffered from shots to the head, while Lt. Hunt received a bullet near his collar bone. Lt. Hunt protected his officers from harm and went after the suspect, nearly missing another round of bullets. Because of Lt. Hunt, the suspect was taken into custody and his fellow officers were able to be rushed to the hospital and treated.
