- By year end 2008, there were 993.24 miles of paved roads and 1103.78 miles of gravel roads being maintained by Pinal County Public Works. That is a total of 2097.02 miles of road that are maintained. If you stretched those miles out, you would be able to drive almost to Washington DC! That's a lot of road miles to maintain.
- None of the property taxes paid to the county are used to maintain the roads. Sales tax on vehicle fuel is earmarked for the Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF) and used toward road improvements and maintenance.
