Pinal County has 5,386 square miles with only 26% being privately owned. By year end 2009, there were 998.92 miles of paved roads and 1100.79 miles of gravel roads being maintained by Pinal County Public Works. That is a total of 2099.71 miles of road that are maintained. There are many private roads throughout the county however that the department does not maintain.
