Transportation Projects Requests
Transportation project requests for consideration in the TIMP are accepted throughout the year. All project requests must be completed on Pinal County’s Transportation Project Request Form and submitted to Public Works staff via the county website, mail, telephone or in person at the Public Works Department in Florence or BOS satellite offices. Please note, requests received after September 30th of each year, will be considered for inclusion in the following year’s TIMP.
Once a request is received, it is submitted to the Public Works area engineer to determine eligibility for the TIMP evaluating such items as the average daily traffic, right-of-way and maintenance statuses, utility conflicts, and drainage issues.
Then the area engineer evaluates the transportation project considering how it addresses such items as:
• Completes an existing project
• Complies with an environmental requirement
• Creates a significant reduction in safety risk
• Complies with the regional transportation plan
• Partners with another agency project
• Increases the level of service or improves local access
• Interfaces with other multi-modal transportation systems
• Promotes economic development
• Reduces fugitive dust or extends pavement life
After the transportation project is determined to be eligible and has been evaluated, it will be added to the proposed TIMP. The proposed TIMP is then submitted to the TAC for prioritization.
Each TAC member will prioritize all eligible and evaluated transportation projects by awarding a number value, with one being the highest priority and the lowest priority being the total number of projects on the proposed TIMP (i.e., if there are 14 projects on the proposed TIMP, the lowest priority would be 14). TAC members submit their prioritized TIMP list to Public Works staff for finalization.
Public Works staff finalizes the proposed TIMP based on the TAC prioritization and submits the draft TIMP to the TAC for approval at the February meeting.
Public Works staff submits the draft TIMP to the BOS for approval in March and inclusion in Pinal County’s annual operating budget.
The Pinal County 5-year TIMP is Pinal County's near-term transportation plan that establishes the schedule and identifies funding for transportation planning, construction, and maintenance projects.
We welcome your comments on the program and will consider all written requests for future projects. To request a future project on the TIMP, you may use the online Transportation Project Request Form or email your request to PCTAC@pinalcountyaz.gov. Questions on the program should be directed to:
