Job Description

This is a volunteer position at West Pinal (Kortsen) Park that works under limited supervision. Incumbents are responsible for providing hosting services in addition to maintaining and promoting a safe environment for all residents and visitors of the Open Space and Trail park system for Pinal County.

Interact with park visitors and campers to provide information, monitor park activities and answers questions regarding camping regulations, fee schedules and park rules. Interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Promote park cleanliness by removing debris and litter, performing light maintenance and landscaping. Verify and account for all park fees from all overnight visitors. Transport park fee box to Casa Grande satellite office, a minimum of one time per week. Provide weekly activity reports to the Pinal County Open Space and Trails Department in the areas of: number of overnight visitors, number of nights per stay, site number of overnight visitors, customer input of overall park condition and suggestions for areas of improvement. Report all park violations to the Pinal County Open Space and Trails Department. Individuals must be willing to commit to volunteering from October to April.

Working independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Maintaining accurate activity reports and park violation records.

Physical Demands

Independent body mobility to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time and/or drive a vehicle. Manual dexterity to reach, and grasp; manual dexterity to hand write or use computer keyboard; vision sufficient to see/read; hear and speak to communicate with customers in person and over the phone.

Working Conditions

Position is located outside and is exposed to summer and winter weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of education, training and experience that would provide the necessary skills for this volunteer assignment.

Ability to pass a background check.

A valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance may be required.

Special Instructions to Applicants

While this position is a volunteer, unpaid position, the successful candidate will receive an RV camp space at no charge, to include electric, water, and holding tank dump costs. Additionally, the successful candidate will be reimbursed mileage for travel to satellite office to deliver park fee box.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications as applicable.
