FLORENCE, AZ – The organizer of a planned event called the Halloween Metal Mare to be held that the Pinal County Fairgrounds & Events Center has advised us that he is canceling plans for the event. Shawn Sumpter, the concert promoter, was planning the event to culminate in two days of heavy metal rock music staged at the Fairgrounds on October 30 and 31.

“We had been negotiating with Mr. Sumpter since July in the hopes of hosting a recurring event each Halloween,” said Connie Lane, Director of Pinal County Parks, Recreation & Fairgrounds. “We never quite got to the stage of executing a contract with Mr. Sumpter but thanked him for his effort to bring the event to Pinal County. It’s always hardest to produce the first annual event but we wish Mr. Sumpter success in his efforts to make this a reality.”

Lane says she hopes that he can secure the major sponsors necessary to support the event in the future because it could grow to be a popular Halloween entertainment option for the heavy metal music lovers in and around Pinal County.
