Medical Examiner Concludes Dale Hausner Autopsy


FLORENCE, AZ – The Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office has jurisdiction over the autopsy of Dale S. Hausner, 40. Hausner died while serving on Arizona’s death row in Florence.

After a complete autopsy and a review of toxicology results, Hausner’s death has been ruled a suicide due to amitriptyline intoxication. Amitriptyline is one of a variety of anti-depressant medications.

Hausner was convicted of more than 80 crimes in connection with a string of serial murders that took place in 2005 and 2006.

The Arizona Department of Corrections is conducting a complete investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hausner’s death. The autopsy report will become part of that ongoing investigation.
