Casa Grande man sentenced for the grisly murder of his girlfriend

Florence, AZ – The Pinal County Superior Court on Wednesday, June 14, 2012, sentenced Lamont Ellickson to 22 years in prison for the murder of Ann Marie Tyler, 30, in Casa Grande on Nov. 23, 2008.

 

Ellickson, 35, left the state for California the day after the murder. On Dec. 3, 2008 he was arrested in Texas and extradited to Pinal County. He pled guilty to second degree murder on Feb. 17, 2012.

 

Ellickson brutally killed Tyler during a domestic violence incident in Casa Grande. He later took her car and left the state.

 

“Ellickson committed a heinous crime. Justice was served,” said Pinal County Attorney James P. Walsh. “I want to offer my condolences to Ms. Tyler’s family.”

 

Ellickson admitted he killed Tyler and apologized to the court. Following arguments by both the defense attorney and the prosecutor and statements by the victim’s family, the Court found more aggravating than mitigating factors and sentenced him to the maximum term of 22 years in prison.

 

Ellickson  was sentenced by Honorable Judge Gilbert  Figueroa , Pinal County Superior Court.

 

Pinal County Chief Deputy County Attorney Richard Platt prosecuted the case for the state.
