Exceptional Events Public Notices

In March 2007, EPA's rule "Treatment of Data Influenced by Exceptional Events" was finalized. This rule provides air quality agencies with the opportunity to flag air quality National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) exceedance data associated with "exceptional events". Annually, this information is sent to EPA to concur with the flag(s) and exclude the data for compliance with the NAAQS.

One of the requirements of this rule is to provide the public with the opportunity to review and comment on the air quality agency's documentation. The comment period is listed below.
